Me and the wife had plans in the works for a Brand New boat, but life tends to happen:(

Anyways I found this one though that is in our up to 5,000 price range.
The guy says I can take it out for a test run.

My questions are, Is Mariah a quality boat? Is the price fair? what would you offer if all goes well on the water test? What do I look for on the water test?

I'm needing to know about the water test because I have never owned an I/O, only have had outboards in the past.

Here is the boat and also a NADA of it.

To be honest with you, I've always liked Mariahs. But there are a few here who OWN them and will chime in...and I build boats for a living...;)

Re: Mariah Boats???

I love my '98. The original Mariah boats were built in Benton Illinois, they were a luxury brand boat "Equipped like no other boat in the world" until they couldn't afford to continue operations and went belly up in 2001. Mariah was then bought by another boat manufacturer, I can't speak for the quality of the newer Mariahs as I've never seen one, but the original Mariah's are a high quality/very solid boat.. I've had multiple people in disbelief that my boat is actually 12 years old.

Bought a new 1996 18 foot Shahbah and have had hardly any problems since. It has been garage kept entirely and also have people tell me they can't believe it is 14 years old. Only signs of wear and tear are on the front bowrider seats where people climp in and out. Powered with the 4.3lx mercruiser and absolutely no issues. Boat will haul A**! Most parts are available because they are either Merc or other manufactorer such as gauges etc. My only current concern would be windshield damage and the lack of replacement parts. But mine is quite sturdy with braces etc and have had no issues.

Good luck.

Re: Mariah Boats???

Well I'm supposed to look at it saturday, but he let me know someone is taking it for a spin tomorrow evening. He said he would call me if the guy does not buy it. grrrrrrr..... hate this senario. I wish I could go down there tonight, but live about 2.5 hours away.

For being a buyer's market, there sure are a lot of overpriced piles out there. I just hope that this is a good one....... of course if he calls and says its still available, I'm gonna wonder why the other guy wouldn't buy it:confused:

I love Mariah's!! My next boat will be a Shabah. I love the 95-98ish year boats. They were top of the line in luxury and have a near perfect layout. I'm not sure on the 91 your looking at but i would hold out for a newer one with the the captains chairs, and the enclosed engien with the 3 rear seats.

Sorry to hear that one slipped away.. There should be others popping up though.

dsl322: I sure wish mine had the 3 seats across the back! With one seat on either side of the engine cover only really skinny adults or kids can use the seats they are so tiny.
