After finding a leaking schrader valve on a Marine Air Vector High Efficiency AC unit we need to re-fill the freon. How much should it take and what low side pressure should we see.

Thanks in advance,

I looked through their manual on the website, but could find no information regarding charge amount. Federal law requires there to be a label with the quantity of refrigerant (usually on the nameplate data where the voltage ratings and such are). In regards to the suction pressure, it will be based on the temperature in the vacinity of the condenser coil. A PT chart will give you proper pressures. There are many of these charts for download on the web.

If you changed a Schrader the system should be vaccuumed prior to charging to remove any non-condensables from your system.

Please be careful when charging as the pressures are high enough to cause injury. Remember when you disconnect anything from a refrigeration line the refrigerant that escapes will be cold enough to give you frostbite. Wear gloves and Eye protection.
