Marine Circulating Water Pump - Did they send me a new or used one - Gasket concerns

Hi Guys, I need your advice… I ordered a NEW “Sierra International 18-3575 Marine Circulating Water Pump “ I got it today and when I opened the box, the gasket is already RTV to the pump and the gasket look doesn’t look right. What do you guys think? Is this normal?



BTW, thanks for your help on the 100 questions I have had that I was able to find answerer to via the search and old topics.

Used. Probably briefly and they realized it wasn't fixing their problem and returned it. You can tell the gasket was peeled off because it's all furry.
