Sorry to pull you from your job, but hafriends just posted a problem about adjusting his carbs. You stated that you need a drill bit to adjust the jets. I'm looking in the manual for his motor and all tools that are required are just basic hand tools, noething said about a drill bit.
Dont get me wrong, I know you know what your talking about due to all your responses on these forums, I'm just curious to know what you mean by using a drill bit for his jets. I may learn something new yet. :D

Re: Marine doctor... got a question.

It was a bit of sarcasm...sorry. The poster stated that his father had taken his boat to a Tech, who "adjusted" the High speed jet on the water.<---Cannot be done.

But for your reference :)

There are 2 ways to change the amount of fuel at high speed.

Replace the jet with a larger one...or DRILL out the old one to a larger size.

Drilling the jets is usually something that is done on Johnson and Evinrude Low speed jets after a rebuild to increase fuel at idle.

Sorry if I have mislead you or anyone that reads that post. :(

TMD

I get it, I would be scared to drill into a hard to find carb though. I can see adding a bigger jet. Isnt carborators made of alluminum. Ist a tricky job to tap alluminum. Have you done this be4?

oooohhhh ok. I was mislead by my ASE instructor about carborators. I should go to his class and ball him out. I was taught that ALL carbs are made of alluminum. You know us Alabamians, illiarate as they come...hehehe. I'm gonna study on that process, got a good referance?
