marine ignition coils

just very courious . why is a marine ign coil same spec as auto look exactly alike and i can see no difference . but they w. ant 30 dollrs more for a marine coil .thanks for your answer as this is just bugging me

I think the difference is that the automotive ones are oil filled, and for marine applications epoxy filled is the way to go. On my boat I run an epoxy filled Pertronix coil.

Correct to the above. I run an MSD HVC coil which is epoxy filled and is a nice upgrade.
