Marine ply vs structural ply

Hello, aniother newbie,

I am replacing a transom on my inflatable, to save some $$$ i am investigating using structural ply instead of marine ply..going to hang a 15hp off it..

If i was to either glass or apply a few coats of epoxy on the structural ply would this surfice ?

Are there other treatments I should do to the strucutral ply?

That will work. If you want even more strength..... cover the entire piece on all sides and surfaces with a layer of fiberglass cloth with that epoxy. It will outlive most of us.

Marine plywood is exterior plywood with no voids and quality exterior plywood treated with epoxy if fine.
