On my 1985 Sea Ray Sundancer SRV300, the back rest for the bench seat had marine plywood that rotted away. It is 6 foot long by 4 inch wide by 1/2 inch thick piece. The foam and vinyl are in good shape and can be reused. I also need to replace a couple of small doors which were marine plywood covered by Formica. Lastly, my transom door has some rot toward the bottom and is also covered by Formica, so while I'm at it, I might as well replace that too. All of these items are in the cockpit near the stern.

My question is, for these types of items, should I go with the marine plywood?

Thank you in advance..

Are you sure what you're looking at is in fact marine plywood?

It sounds to me like the first piece would be better made out of straight lumber rather than ply. Unless you don't have access to a planer and don't have room for the extra 1/4".

1/2 exterior ply sanded one side, 5 ply, two or more good coats of epoxy paint on all edges, stainless staples. the doors you can use the same to keep cost down, or use one of the new polymer boards. being they were made in 85, they live there life, most formica counter tops don't last that long.
