Marine Radio Intermittant

I have a West Marine Orion marine radio.

The first couple times I used it, I couldn't seem to get any stations. I tried it a week ago and could receive weather and Coast Guard. I turned it off, then back on a pushed a couple buttons, and once again i cannot seem to hear anything but static.

Can anyone help me?

Ayuh,...

Are you talking about a VHF, communication radio,..??

If So,...
You hear Nothing because nobody is talking within range of you...

Did you check the Antenna connections,..??

VHF communication radio.

I could hear the weather stations on several channels. I turned the unit off, back on, changed the channel, heard static, put the channel back to the weather station, and heard nothing but static. I did not move the radio nor touch the antenna or the antenna connection.
