Maybe some of you guys have run into this problem before. I purchased and just received a new starter for my 305 chevy Mercruiser. I bought it on Ebay from DB ELECTRICAL. It is supposed to be a marine starter but it is not designated anywhere on it as being approved for marine use. I checked my receipt and it shows it is a marine starter. This is a permanent magnet gear reduction starter. Has anyone had this happen before?

Not sure I have ever seen a starter with a tag that says "Marine" on it.
If you bought a "Marine" starter from a starter rebuild place, then it's probably marine.
Buying one from someone selling used parts is a whole different ball game.

It is a new starter, I checked the companys feedback and it was very good....100% with thousands of starters, alternators and such sold. I am going to call them in the am and make sure it is ok. I am probably worked up over nothing as usual.

Thanks guys I appreciate the information. I called Db electrical and they said all permanent magnet are sealed anyways and are fine for Marine use.
