Has anyone ever use marine vinyl flooring instead of carpet?

I am rebuilding a Supra Wakeboat and I hate the idea of using carpet because I just replaced the floor and stringers... I don't wanna EVER do that again... SO..

Have you used it or know someone who has? What did you like or dislike about it?

This is a mid engine inboard ski boat so there won't be much floor showing... I just want something easy to care for.... doesn't hold water like a sponge... doesn't hold on to dirt, sand, and little pieces of grass... Not slippery when wet... etc...

Thanks!

Re: Marine Vinyl Flooring

By "marine vinyl" do you mean rubberized coating, rubber mats and the like? Or do you mean a vinyl floor covering you would use on a boat. They are very different. The best of all option is textured gel-coat in my opinion, but that tends to be difficult to do. The next best option is paint with non-skid added. But you need a smooth paint ready surface for that. Another way to go would be to paint under the gunnels and use removable mats. The only problem I could see with that is getting the mats to lay down and look good.
I have run across marine floor coverings that work like carpet, look like carpet, and are supposed to drain. (debatable) But they are very expensive.
Now that I have listed the options I know of, please pick one and try it so I have a better idea of which way I want to go.:D

being little, or of no, help is my specialty

enjoy,

There are others but this will give you the jest...

I would like Textured floor for it seems to complicated... I didn't want bedliner.. I have that on the last boat and I don't like how it feels under foot.

Thanks though.

Joking aside, Nautolex is what I was considering using on the lower deck of my tri-hull. Being a rubber product it seems it would work find if you did not make complex bends. My idea was to snap it down or simply lay it in position so that it could be removed. I was thinking of covering the flat area of the deck. It would have to be thick enough so no adhesive is needed to keep it place. I do not want glue all over the place. I would rather leave the deck bare and paint it if I have to use glue.

In a wake boat or a pleasure boat in general I would use the Nautolex or something like it. It looks reaaly clean on the deck. Mine is going to be primarily fishing so I went with polyurethane garage floor paint with anti skid in it. I wanted something I could scrub with a brush or repaint when it gets stained with blood and bait. But the paint ended up looking pretty good and the antiskid has a great texture and you can't hardly feel it in bare feet.

Feels fine. Not plush like carpet but immensely more practical than carpet.

Sorry for bringing back a 1 year old post but what color did you use? I am trying to find something to match my boat.
