Marine Vinyl?

There is red and white vinyl glued to the plywood on the bow and down the sides of my 62 Cruiser Inc.

The red vinyl is pretty flexible, but the white vinyl seems to have become brittle.

I would like to replace the vinyl since I am restoring the boat. What kind of vinyl (and where) should I buy? Searching online shows "marine vinyl" from $10/yd to $40/yd. Is this any different from the "marine vinyl" at the local Joann Fabrics store? The vinyl would be glued down to plywood with cobntact cement and of course exposed to the elements.

Also, where can I get the aluminum extrusions that ran along the outside top edge of the boat and had a lip to hold down the edge of the vinyl? It's still there, but has numerous dents and some gouges. It would be a lot of work to fix it so if it were reasonably priced I would buy new trim.

Thanks
Steve

Re: Marine Vinyl?

I bought mine locally at a fabric store. I was the only male in there.

The nice lady directed me to the "marine vinyl" area and helped me with a color match. We hit the color and texture-dead on. I appreciated being able to SEE IT before I bought it.

The price was more reasonable than I imagined.

Marine vinyl will definitely last longer than the fabric store. The sun will kill anything and you need a top notch product.
