Okay so you guys on here have helped me to figure out where my hot wire & ground wire connect on the motor so now my ? is it i can connect them to a regular car battery to try & trim the motor up so i can move my boat? I have no controls for the motor yet so the only trim switch i have is on the motor cowl... Its a 91 mariner 115 inline 4 by the way.

The only reason i dont have a marine battery is i havent decided if i want to continue to poor money in this project or not but either way the boat has to be located asap.

You can hook it up to any 12v battery source that will handle the load. Justa about any charged car battery will run your trim. Even a battery charger will work. I've run my trim on a motorcycle battery in the shop.. I'd pull the plug wires off just so she doesn't start if you happen to bump the wrong wires together.
