hi folks
i have an elderly mariner 115hp 2 stroke i think its a 1978 so its an oldie
i need to service it but my problem is im not sure how,
im new to this, but i assume its similar to a car,i.e new plugs, some sort of oil filter, fuel filter, and fresh oil and an air filter if there is one, apologies first for being a complete idiot but i would be very appreciative if someone could point me in the right direction.
i have the boat a year now and have got out in it once(just got a new lower unit fitted- the guy says he wont service it so its up to your truly)
thanks again!

Re: mariner 115hp

Gary, That motor is 2 cycle outboard, it doesn't have an oil filter or an air filter. The fuel filter (actually a screen) is located on top of the fuel pump. Trace the fuel line, it goes right to it. It has a single stainless steel phillips head screw holding it on. You must premix the gas with oil in a 50::1 Ratio. 1 pt TCW-3 oil to six gal gas. Spark plugs are gapless, and don't get changed all that much. The gearcase needs to be filled with Marine gearlube, from the bottom drain screw, until the lube flows out the top drain.
