Mariner 15hp 1989 (Yamaha)?

hi all i just brought a Mariner 15hp it dosent have a very viewable serial & model # but i can make out this 15M 065506, the boat shop and person i brought it off said it is the same as the yahama motor? my question is tho, can any 1 conferm with me what model this is and dose this model have a thermo on them, as it is not spitting water out. I checked the impella and it is new, but dont know much about boats could it be the water pump? any assistance would be a great help, Kind Regards

15M 684-062459 thru 684-074082 1988<br />The 15m designates it as a 15hp, short shaft motor, manual start.<br /><br />It appears to be a 1988 model. I believe it does have a thermostat.<br /><br />The impeller is the rubber paddlewheel that is inside the waterpump. They deteriorate over time, and need to be replaced every few years.<br /><br />You can do it if you have a repair manual and basic tools.<br />If you are not the do it yourself type, you can have it done at a shop for under $100.<br /><br />Parts can be obtained from any Mercury dealer.
