Hi

Im new to this site so i hope i have the right place to post this.

I have a mariner 175hp

I would like to know what year the motor was made.I cant find the serial number on this site.Im sure it would be here but since im new ill need your help.

SERIAL NUMBER IS OC221001

Would parts for this motor be hard to find?

The piston caught a ring just recently so ill be needing to re sleeve and buy piston and rings.And whatever else needs to be done.I have not pulled it right apart yet.So im after help in this also.Ill be needing the correct workshop Manuel.

Iv never pulled an outboard apart before.

any recommendations for buying parts?hope im allowed to ask that question here?if not dont answer.

I live in Australia. And from what i have herd its cheaper to buy parts from america.

That s/n comes up as:

MARINER - (175 H.P. (1989 ))
Serial No: 0C221001 Model No: 7175412PD

Parts List for model 7175412PD:

175 H.P. (V-6) - Mercury, Mercruiser, Force, etc. Parts Lookup

The service manual you require for your s/n is P/N: 90-8140981

As for recommendations about where to buy parts and the best routes to go, I leave that to the other Australians who are on here who will have first hand knowledge.
