MARINER 28 HP. What year IS it?

I am looking at purchasing a Mariner 28 HP long shaft OB. Owner says it reads: 664 L 591 20.
I havenot been successful at locating this motor for parts lookup.
Also will a 25 hp short shaft hookup to this motors powerhead?

Is there and English version of this info.
My guess says it looks like a 1977, and did not see how it comes up with a different SR. number!
5 not 6 digits. What does L designate? Long Shaft? ( it is) ignor that letter in SR number?
More help pls.

My apologies, I thought you had left out a number (591 20) between 591 and 20.

In that case it is a '77 year and EL indicates electric start, long shaft. Don't use the L in the s/n.

28 EL 664-58351 - 664-571175 1977
