Re: mariner 40 question

I use to go to Mercurypartsexpress.com to look up parts for my 1994 Mariner. I am not sure if all Mariners were made by Mercury.

Re: mariner 40 question

i believe it is a 1982 but i am not 100% sure...heres the link but i could not find a perfect match but if you look at 1982, its a 40 EL and similar SN.

40 EL 6E9-402516 through (no info) 1982

http://www.marinshopen.se/ then click modellguide in the top right corner and click the engine make and find the SN.

Re: mariner 40 question

Well, if it's like the '94 Mariner 40 hp 4 cyl, it's the 44 cu in block with cross flow fuel scavenging Merc built since the '50's with upgrades over the years like going from the magneto (don't know year) to all solid state ignition, using stainless steel for prop and drive shafts, improved water pumps and things like that.

Should be a rock solid performer.
