Just about to replace impeller and gaskets however, pump base (which I cannot afford to replace right now) looks in bad shape. There is a bit of casting missing as shown in pic which is allowing water to pass from inlet through to outlet and externally. I intend to fix this with a metal repair compound.
What are the two relief slots for, it look like it allows water to travel between pump outlet and external - will this not have an adverse effect on water pressure to powerhead?
I have noticed many of the newer models have plastic parts rather than this cast aluminium/alloy one - is there a plastic replacement?
Any advice much appreciated (yes, I know buy a new base - but cannot afford and want to get motor running for a couple of months, then will replace with new part)
