Mariner 40hp

I have a Mariner 40hp outboard motor not sure what model it is 676 BL400583 if someone could help with that...........When i run wide open it is missing, i cannot run at full throttle........someone told me that it might be the reed valves but im not sure.......it misses at idle also...........if it is the reed valves how do i check them?..........any help would be great!!!!!!

It's not the reeds they only effect startup and idle. If it's a miss start by changing plugs and if that don't help ck the ign. system. If it's a surge ck the fuel sytem.

This model should have points system. Clean and adjust may solve your problem

i have the same outboard and had the exact same problems was a terible idle and i had no full throttle due to a really bad miss and it turned out to be the plugs , didnt help that i had slightly the wrong ones but new ones are in and it runs smooth as now so try that
