Rebuilt carbs with new needle valves and gaskets, now can't get the fuel to stop after priming bulb. I've adjusted the float and still get the same outcome.

Any suggestions as to what I'm missing?

Re: Mariner 45hp leaking carbs

A few problems we have had, some kits come with needles without springs on them they don't work, some of the needles have to long of springs so when the floats are set at 1/4" the float tab is on such a angle that it binds the needle and causes leakage. The latests problem is some aftermarket kits have needles that the tips that are reacting to some fuels and once they are run the tip will swell or contract and when you take the carb down the float level has changed.

Re: Mariner 45hp leaking carbs

sounds like the floats are too low not allowing the fuel to shutoff

pull the carbs check your levels,

with the floats exposed you can blow air thru the fuel inlet, use a hose with your mouth....you will hear the air when the floats are open, lift the floats to close the needle and continue to blow, you should not hear air or be able to blow when the needle is closed

hope this test helps you get it resolved before assembling again
