Hi folks
A big thank you to the forum,I managed to drop the lower unit on my eighties mariner 60hp triple this week end-the cooling was pumping fine, but as she has stood for 10 years, thought it was over due (lol).Anyway the splined output shaft was frozen solid and it took me 2 days to finally ease it off (lump hammer -wooden drift-wedges,also removed water intake screens and suspended a 100 lb lump of iron).Anyway finally got it apart with minimal damage to ally cases-the impeller ironically was not too bad, still intact but some of the arms were starting to break up-new one on order.Copper grease is going on the spline before it goes back together, and it is going to be done every 24 months from now on-anyway once again thanks, without reading the posts on how hard it can be,I might have given up-it really did take a beating, and yes all nuts and bolts were out-willing to share how I did this if anyone needs it-cheers
