Hi guys, this is my first post, I have learned a lot from reading the problems of the boating world. If some one can give me on an input of a stupid question all though the only stupid question is the one not asked. I would like to know what is the purpose of the thrust washer that goes on the prop shaft before the prop? The mariner I have been running does not have one, it runs great with no vibration and the drive shaft with the flair with the prop bottoming on it shows no indication of needing that thrust washer. I could go more in detail but don't see the need at this time. I hate to tell you guys that I have been into boating for at least 40 years which gives you guys my age. I know this seems like a stupid question that I should know as i have repaired cars and boats for that long also. Thanks guys Buz

Thre are 3 or 4 different types of washers for different props so you will need to give us the number of your prop.

Guys, I am only interested in its purpose, if necessary I'll be running quicksilver and tempest props. Thanks Buz
