Hi.....

Was just given this Mariner 8. 8M 677S #056***.

Appears to be a 1982; Mfg by Yamaha (as far as my research says anyway....)

The PO disconnected the cables from the carb to the tiller handle.....and I must be missing something. I have the two cables sticking through the cowl....with the lead ends on them.....

The tiller handle seems to be missing parts....but when I look at the parts diagram...everything seems to be there.

Can someone walk me through how they are hooked up.....or maybe post a picture?

Parts diagram here: (B_O_A_T_S.N_E_T)

Thanks!

Re: Mariner 8 HP 8M 677S Throttle Cable Question

If you hold tension on the ends of the cables and twist the throtal arm and the cables move as they should, then the trouble is not in the tiller arm of the motor. You will have the trouble in the rest of the linkage from there to the butterfly shaft in the carb. Probly a small screw not tight, stripped, or missing. Could also be a small roll pin or other linkage part missing. When someone works on the carb there is a very good chance that small parts can get lost and not replaced when reassembly is done. If you can copy the diagrams for the linkage or print out a copy and have them next to the motor, and carb when checking for the missing part, chances are you will find it. JMO
