I want to buy Mariner 90, two stroke, first two numbers of engine is 0c.
What is date of manufacture of this engine?
Compression in cylinders is 8 on cold, 9 on hot.
What will be fuel consumption on little boat weight of about 250kg, with 15 inch or 19 inch propeller pitch. Going to ride wakeboard and ski on it.
Does it make sense to purchase a motor?
Thanks))

You'll need the full serial # to get the engine year, but it should be an '89 or '90 if it's a 3 cylinder model.

Fuel consumption will vary widely with how you use it. Lightly loaded at cruising speed will use a lot less fuel than running at WOT or towing a skier as you stated.

It is clear, I would like to know the minimum and maximum fuel consumption. Lightly loaded at cruising speed and in some hard mode. Model 3 cylinders)

You'd need to find someone with a similar setup and usage pattern to yours to get estimates.

Re: Mariner 90. fuel consumption question.

You cannot predict lightly loaded - cruising fuel consumption because there are too many variables. The boat design being one. Wide open throttle fuel consumption will be about 9 gallons per hour worst case.

You stated compression numbers of 8 cold and 9 hot. If those are PSI you have a junk engine or the test was done wrong or the gauge was inaccurate or you misread the gauge\. If they are BAR numbers that turns out to be .55 BAR, or 51.5 kPa.

Regardless what engine you may have, wide open throttle fuel consumption is going to be very close to 10% of its rated horsepower. Therefore 90 HP x .10 = 9.

I'd be willing he has a gauge calibrated in compression ratio, or atmospheres. Haven't seen one since 1960's.

0 compression would be 1 atmosphere, so 8 would be about 103, and 9 would be about 118.

Measured in Bars, so my question is this engine dead or good? starts lightly, on the run its enough powerfull
