That sounds like someone sprayed to much starting fluid in the engine, any is to much.

Howdy, Kovacs.

Welcome to iboats. :)

I suspect that the ether took out the head gasket at least, and maybe holed a piston or two.

First, remove the head. Tell us what you see.

ANY starting fluid is TOO much! If you have to use a starting aid, use some premix in a spray or squirt bottle... No lubrication in starting fluid...sure way to damage an engine. Good luck and welcome to Iboats!

Thurst Quick Starting Fluid made by Gunk says right on the can in big red letters ,, FOR AUTOS, TRUCKS , OUTBOARD MOTORS, ECT...the directions say to spray in each carb. for 2 to 3 sec. then start..I wonder why they would say this if just a fraction of a sec. squart which i applied to each carb. would ruin a motor....I've used it on lawnmowers , chain saws, cars and never hurt any of them...and it also says on the can that it contains a lubricant and a corrosion inhibitor.. ill contact them and explain what happened. maby they will buy me a new motor.......I just assumed it was ment for what it is advertised for............

what do ya think?????????

The only reason starting fluid is necessary to begin with, is because there is a problem with the engine, ignition, or the fuel system.
Starting fluid does nothing but make it possible for the owner to start the engine without having to fix it first. Think about it.

Just because a company advertises something don,t make it the truth. That aside your engine does not have a cyl. head to remove that is only a water jacket cover not a head. You may have damaged the rings or caused the lands to collapse so first try to use some oil in the cyls to see if it will lossen the rings if you compression does return you may take a squirt can and some fuel and oil mix and prime the engine with that to see if it will start and if it does you will need to clean the fuel system as the carbs are dirty or the inlets are stuck
