Mariner Carb. help please

Hi all, my mariner 30hp I think is 1994 no fuel.
Replaced all fuel pipes, fuel pump kit, new plugs and now a carb. kit.
Fuel goes as far as carb but will not go in, taken carb off, poured fuel down pipe (bowl removed) and it comes out of the float jet just fine.
Was thinking the new float may be catching on inside of bowl but no sign of that, needle moving fine when lifting float up.
If I pour fuel into cylinders it starts up great as it normally did, I just cant figure it out, I hope one of you guys has an answer.
I was going to sell boat last fall but when I did my weekly start it just ran for a few seconds and stopped, I suppose for reasons stated.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Gerry

What is the engine s/n? Did you set the float height when you were in the carb?

Hi, s/n 689 L 550744
Finding info on float height seems next to impossible but set first at 15mm and now at 16mm.
I searched for carb info but can't find that exact carb anywhere.
Thanks for your reply.

Hi Guys, I think this has to be the float catching on the bowl, I thought I had heard the float moving up and down, just checked again and it was the choke piston going in and out.
Back to the head scratching lol.

If you feel that the float is set correctly, blow into the fuel inlet line with the carb in the normal position and then invert it and blow through again. Inverted, with the float in the closed position, you should not be able to blow through it.

Re: Mariner Carb. help please

Thanks for the info it was very useful even if I do now have cheeks like a Hamster lol.
I reset the float but only to 7mm, seems a bit low really.
Engine started straight away, probably used most of Carb full then started missing.
I would have thought maybe flooding, on checking sparks with tester I could not see any spark, normally bounce about 3/8".
Will have to check again in the dark.
Thanks for info anyway.
Gerry

Sparks ok, running now but racing and backfiring through exhaust, if I try to increase revs engine stops, any ideas anyone?
Thanks
Gerry
