Mariner Controls Question

Last year I switched my 73 85hp 'rude to a early 80's (not sure of the exact year at the moment) 115hp Mariner. I am shopping for a used control box including harness and cables. Is there any particular year and HP range I need to look for? It has power trim but that isn't essential as I can just use a momentary toggle for trim. Would it be safer to just buy one with out cables and put on new cables since I know they are prone to seizing up? I already plan on going new for the steering cable.

No not really the cable's hold up really well and finding one with tilt is also common.
