I had an exhaust / water leak on my 115 Mariner (0B153107) in line 6, I replaced the inner and outter gaskets and cleaned the carbon from the inner plate, and it hasn't leaked anymore. I never mentioned this in other post since I thought it wasn't an issue. However after reading some other forums (not iboats) it was mentioned that a warped exhaust plate can cause high end running problems. I used geniune Mercury gaskets and torqued all the bolts to factory specs.

I would think if it was warped it would be leaking, correct? Also, would this cause high end running problems anyway? Thanks for you help, I sure you're tired of hearing my posts, just trying to get this thing running correctly.

If it aint broke dont fix it, my guess would be if its not leaking it is just fine.

IF it's leaking water into the engine you will see evidence ( steam cleaned spark plug and piston tops ) .

So if the piston tops are covered in sot/carbon buildup it's fine, extremely clean and I would be worried.

Thanks, piston tops have some carbon build as normal. Thanks for the ease of mind.
