Mariner inline 6 oil coming from prop

I put the muffs on my 86 90 hp inline today. After running it for a few min. and shut it off i noticed some blackish, gray oil coming out from the end of the prop.
It smelled like gear oil.. Enough that it was dripping on the ground and making a puddle. I pulled the gear oil plug and it didnt look like it had water in it. HELP!

After breaking the ole book out, I think it is the prop seal. Is there anything else that it could be?

How about unburned 2-stroke oil, quite normal...

But just to be sure... fill your lower unit to the max..... after some hours of running check it again.... if it's still clean your seals are OK ( any tiny leak and you will have water in your oil )
