Mariner Magnum 40 alarm

I have a Mariner Magnum 40 outboard that has a quicksilver electronic switch starter on it. Last time I was out the peizo buzzer in the electronic switch started buzzing at high RPM's on the motor. Is that an alarm of some sort?

Yes, if it was a steady buzzing then your motor was overheating. If its just doing it at higher RPMs rebuild your poppet valve.

It actually was steady when I was on plane and then after a while it didn't stop until I pretty much idled all of the way down, does that sound like the poppet valve still
