Hi there,
I have a Mariner Magnum 40h Serial #OD128965. I'm trying to find the parts to replace the oil level window and grommet and the mercury parts site lists two sets of replacements, design I and design II. Any idea how I can determine which set I need to buy for my engine? Thanks

Hi Jake, In this link below are the parts to YOUR engine using your engine serial number.

Do you see the part in this link that you are in need of?

Where is it and what part number do you need?

Yep, it's under the Cowling link, parts 5 and 6. There are two options for #5 and two for #6. They're labeled Design I and Design II.

Here's one way that you may be able to tell what design you have would be by looking at the decal set on the outboard cowling.

See link for examples. I hope this helps good luck with it.:)

Good catch. My Mariner has the highlighted decals like the Design II set on the right. I'll go with II and see how it goes. Worse case I'm out $20. Thanks very much for the tip.
