I bought this 94 mariner magnum in the spring and haven't gotten it to run right yet. Serial 0G237073
At first it leaked gas from carbs so I got that sorted. It wouldn't idle but would run fast fine. I adjusted the mixture screws and idle rpm screw to match the timing in my manual. It was 3 degrees off. Now it won't run high rpm but it does idle. Got the manual out and there's several steps with the timing. It's VERY confusing. There is a step about adjusting the secondary screw to just touch the throttle arm on the carb when the throttle is at its max timing stop. The screw touches way before the stop hits. not even and if I back the screw out that far (as the book says) it bumps the engine and makes the throttle hang. I'm going to attach the page from the manual. I'm wondering if the manual is wrong.
If somebody has the correct timing and carb sync/timing processes it would help me greatly. If it still runs bad after that I'll be back because I'm running out of ideas.
Thank you,
