mariner --rev problem

this motor is a little hard to start but runs very well at once it gets pass about 2000 rpm , it goes dead sometimes when i apply more throttle. Also 0nce it i run it for 20 minutes or so to get to the destination and stop for 20 minutes or so it is hard to get started again. the carbs have be cleaned and the compression is 142 psi + or - 4 psi . the timing is correct and the idle speed in neutral is 900 rpm ,,, can you folks help

Make sure the fuel system is up to snuff.<br />Try pumping the primer when it acts like this to see if it picks up,even if it is a temporary improvement. If not,this is a common failure, but you will need "the book" to confirm it...It sounds like the low-speed windings in the stator are toasted.<br />Do a search here under Stator, and you may find several examples of others "feeling your pain".<br />Good luck.

I had this problem with a Mariner 90HP and it was a bad power pack. Have that part checked by a mechanic or get one on eBay and replace it. It usually easy to do and not that expensive for a good used one.
