Thanks to all the help I got by just reading through the old S/N posts here I found my serial number. However it isn't recognised when I go to order parts (impeller kit, plugs and zinc anode) on the mercpartsexpress
http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/PartsExpress/ProductSelection/ServiceParts/SPhome.asp

The serial number is 9695919 and starting with a '0' to bring it to 8 digits didn't work. The number is covered on http://www.marinshopen.se/ as a valid '92 number.

It's a 3cylinder 3 carb with automix and PTT and I bought it this year in the UK. The cowl graphics say Mariner and then 'Seventyfive' in a kind of flourished text.

My thanks to anyone able to offer some guidance here.

Hi Steven - it's 75HP and feels like it delivers every last one to the prop!

Many thanks for your help here Whaley but when I look here
http://www.outboardparts.com/mercury/mall/mercimpellerepairkits.htm
I get a different impeller number in the recommended kit! Could I enquire how you were able to get some sense out of my serial number?

If I could get my serial number working/formatted correctly it'd help my confidence selecting a kit. Meanwhile if anyone could help me select a kit from Westmarine's selection I'd appreciate it....
http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wc...001&langId=-1&catalogId=10001&productId=72618

Many thanks

Re: Mariner S/N not recognized at mercpartsexpress?

Sorry mate, I didnt read your post properley and therefore I havent given you the correct numbers, take a look at the signature at the bottom of my post. Maybee I should read it myself more often.
I was confused by your description Automix, if the oil injection is Autolend i.e. seperate oil bottle in the boat then Mariner did not have a 75 HP with this system.
However if the oil injection bottle is mounted under the cowl then the answer is easy.
Mariner had a 75HP 3 cyl 3 carb 1992, The genuine impeller number is 47-43026T2. the plugs are BUHW-2 and the anode is 31640Q4
The reason for the serial number confusion. All Marcs and Mariners with serial numbers that start with '9' are Belgium built motors. The web site thet you are checking out is a US site and they are only using the US numbers.
Frankly I would be shopping locally, If you wish to use an internet site then try iboats first as they sponsor this board
Sorry about the confusion

Thanks a bunch 460 - this makes up for bighammer going off-line.

Hi Whaley and thanks for the updated info - (cross-checked with help from 460!) Don't worry about a little confusion - you were spot on in the end - the oil bottle is under the cowl.

Regarding supporting iboats I absolutely agree and indeed attempted to order other merc/mar parts previously here and again to-day but there's an issue with shipping mercury parts to several states including the one my friend travelling to the US will be in.

I'd personally be willing to donate via Paypal to this board as international members like me get a lot out of it but can't really spend our dollars with the sponsors.

Regarding shopping locally vs the US - trust me -the price differences are orders of magnitude not percentages!

Thanks again for everyone's help - this is easily the best net forum I've ever used and I've been on plenty of 'em since '92!
