Hi again,

I've got one more problem with this 9.9 and that is the lower unit oil is going out the front drain hole just above the fill hole when I'm filling it up.

There isn't any oil coming up through the drive shaft that I can see. So is there a seal on the shift rod that it could be getting by?

If so how would I replace it?

Thanks. Bob

If you drop the gearcase, and put it in a vice, you should be able to see exacly where it is coming from.

DHP

DHP,

Thanks for you interest. I do have the lower unit off and when I try to put oil in the top plug hole, it comes out the front drain hole just below the cavitation plate. No oil comes out the drive shaft seals. I know you are supposed to put the oil in the bottom hole but that shouldn't have anything to do with this problem. Thanks.
