I've just aquired what I think is a martin 75. No serial numbers unfortunatly and no previous history, bit shabby paint wise but good compression and idles sweet. After idleing for a few mins I put my hand on the powerhead and its seriously hot. So hot I noticed some of the oil I used on it was smokeing. This was a bit confusing as she was on muffs and the pump was running.
i've dropped the lower leg and the holes on the powerhead for waterflow are completely covered by the powerhead gasket. This only allows water to empty down the leg. Is this right ?
The martin web says 3/4 pint of oil per gallon. Whats that as ratio and are they refering to tcw3 or another type of oil ?

Re: Martin 75

3/4 pt per gallon is 12 ozs.About 16:1 use TCW3 rated oil.Personally I would stick with a barrel of water instead of muffs.Cant help you much on gasket but ask at The Antique Outboard Motor Club.www.aomci.org.
