Have an ebay opportunity to buy a Martin outboard on ebay but the only number the seller could provide was the serial # B25554. I can't seem to find a website for Martin model numbers can anyone help?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...em=4521834685&category=50439#ebayphotohosting

Looks pretty ratty. I calculated shipping to my place and that was $44 more. And I saw a $2 packaging fee that seems kinda low. I wouldn't bid too high on it. The model number isn't included so I can't help with Hp or year. The lower cowl is missing, too.

The disclaimer reads way too long and way too detailed. Their policy on negative feedback is absurd and intimidating! I wouldn't buy a toostie roll from those clowns! They look like everything you've been taught to avoid on ebay!

It went for $36 which is more than I would've paid for it outright let alone pay shipping and packaging. I figure a motor like that is worth $25. That's what I see alot with these antiques. Most sell for less than the shipping and many don't get bid on at all because of the hidden costs that are tacked onto the selling price. I happen to collect antiques myself and had considered offering a few on ebay, but the shipping just kills the deal too often.

If you were the winning bidder, congrats. It'll make somebody a nice restoration project.

Thanks Willy & ****, I thought the same thing as far as the price went, $36 plus $44(shipping) plus the almost certain need for two new coils at $35 apiece plus a carb kit and proably seals for the lower unit, was a bit rich for my blood as well.
