Re: marvel schebler carb?

There were two manufacturers of Elgin 7.5 hp outboards in 1963. One was McCullough. The other was West Bend. Look for the model number. Once you can give us that, we might be able to help.

Re: marvel schebler carb?

My manual indicates A Shebler model SUM carb. Fuel pump is in the bottom of the carb. The square cover is refered to as the pump body.Don't attempt any
repair without a manual.Power head removal is required to remove the carb.
The Shebler looks very complicated and if history hold true it probably is.
I think I would try to find a Tillitson carb it sure looks simpler.
You might ask at "ask the scott guy". He may have more info.

thanks steelespike.....i'm still looking for info on the open vertical fitting right behind the choke plate,i can tell something was recently hooked up there but cannot find anything,it looks like a hose went in the top,and directly below that is another going straight down into the bottom end somewhere.
