Re: MASHED TRANSDUCER WIRE
I recently spliced a cable for a neighbour and found the complete opperation time consuming but quite easy, In this case, the 8 core cable was individualy colour coded.what I did was as follows, carefully inspect the cable before cutting, if colour coded the splice will be much easier if not, cut back on the outer insulation and mark each individual wire with masking tape and a pen ie, mark 1 through to 6 or whatever the amount of individual wires in the cable. ( both sides of the splice ) check all markings are secure, then cut the cable one strand at a time. Start the splicing process, slip a piece of heat shrink over the outer cable first. Then proceed as follows ,cut a marked wire and strip 6mm off each side of the cut wire ,slide a piece of the correct size heat shrink over the wire being spliced ,solder the joint and shrink the heat shrink over the soldered joint.Follow this procedure with all the wires to be spliced , remember to cut back the outer cable long enough to allow ample workin space, about 75mm,when all the wires have been spliced/soldered ,slide the outer heat shrink over the completed splice and shrink. I know this is a tedious job but failing this the next best option is to buy a new cable.
Kind Regards .
William Wrightr
