massaging a prop

hey guys,

silly question but is it ok to beat a bent alum. prop back into shape or will it damage the seals and/or bearings in the lower unit? its a 59 johnson 18

If you take it to your local marina they probably have a nice rounded anvil that they use to tap dings and bends out of propellers.A few light taps will most likely set it back where it belongs.All you have to do afterward is take a file and make sure that the edges are smooth.
If you do it by yourself,be very careful not to crack the prop.

Not a real good idea to try to straighten it yourself. If it is out of balance a little it will take out the bearings in your lower unit. Remember it is spinning at 4,000 RPM's + Take it in and have someone who knows what they are doing.
