I have a Mercruiser 3.0L that I had to order some exhaust valves for. I tried to find a car engine that matched so I could hopefully buy the Valves from an Auto parts store. I didn't have much luck. Is there a car engine that matches up for parts like the valves, Gaskets etc?

It's a GM engine, so yes, you can buy some parts for it at an auto parts store,,, if you know what you are looking for. Some of the parts will cross over to a 153ci 4cyl from the late 60's, but others won't as the 3.0L is a 181ci engine,,, industrial/marine engine. The valves are just GM valves, but you need to figure out what other engines use that same valve, or what the GM part numbers are for the valves.

If you can find someone with a Sealed Power catalog and look in the section that has Industrial engines . Try some of the older parts houses . Not discrediting Auto Zones and the like where the reach for the keyboard and ask you what kind of car There is a non automotive section that covers stationary engines and tractor engines . Another Idea is to try Egge Machine .They deal in the old car market and might be able to help you out
