I've just assembled my bravo drive and replaced the seals. When I mated the upper half to the lower half I noticed that there is a tiny gap at the back part. The part where the seals are (little oil seal, water passage and drive shaft) looks OK. Only to see when I hold a light at the other side. All bolts tightened down correctly. All ready separated the parts again but cant see any faults.

Looks to me that this is not OK. Any suggestions?

How far of a tear down did you go with the upper and lower units, Did you remove the shafts such as the lower unit drive shaft? Did you disturb spacer item number 17 in the following link other than the O-ring #18, http://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/s...30967/1943/220

^ Is the spacer and related parts seated correctly?

Make sure the O-rings aren't doubled up and that item number 5 isn't holding (gapping) the upper unit up.

When you set the upper down on the lower, do you sort of hear a metal to metal type sound.

Also be sure to pressure check the complete drive to around 10 - 12 psi while it's assembled to ensure it's holding pressure while turning the shafts by hand.

I think I'll separate the upper and lower again and recheck everything. Heard today that it's not uncommon to see a very small gap. Will also pressure test the drive to make sure everything is sealed.
