I'm looking to possibly buy a 2005 seapro 190cc. I would like something that can be used pretty easily in the rivers, but that I can also take out about 10-15 miles in the gulf on average days. Anybody have any ideas on the maximum sea height that this boat could handle comfortably? Also any suggestions on other boats for these purposes would be appreciated.

you can only go by conditions of the day. too many variables, wave height, frequency (distance between), winds. on a really good day a 14 foot jon boat could do it. on a bad day an aircraft carrier can have a bad time.

I gotta agree, it's the frequency combined with wave height that'll getcha. I've been out in widely-spaced 4 foot seas on the ocean and had a splendid day(they were more like hills), while close-spaced three foot seas on a lake can be awful since they are much steeper faced and just slam the boat.

It depends more on the skill and common sense of the captain than the boat he is commanding. Guys have crossed the Atlantic in 8' boats.
