max hp

how can you determine what the max hp a boat can handle if the plate is missing from the boat and their is not any information on the web about this type of boat. I have a 1970 lamar runabout that is 17' long with a beam of just a little over 60". Thanks

then you buy the biggest motor you can afford and slap it on ... as long as it floats it is all good .... I have have a 225 on a 17ft .... happy days
