max motor size

Hello All<br />I have a 20' 1988 landau pontoon and I wouldlike to know what the max motor size I could <br />run. I have a 50hp on it now but having problems can't get above 38 rpm's @ wot<br />she runs smooth just won't go. Is a 50hp ok for this boat.<br />Thanks Mike

3800 RPM you mean? if so....your need to reprop to less pitch or check engine for fuel or ignition problems...What pitch and dia are you running now? What are you using for a tach?

HI FlyBoyMark<br />I am running a 10 x 12 pitch it was on the boat when I bought it. I already checked fuel tank vent, changed plugs, cleaned filter I am going to check for cable slipped out of holder next. I am using boats tach to check rpm's.<br />Mike

Did it always only run 3800 or did it just start?<br /><br />A 50hp should push a 20' pontoon ok.
