max rpm??

Is there a place/formula that can tell me what max rpm motor should be running at wot?? just put a new tach in and havent taken it out yet, trying to find proper prop, marina said I was over propped with 21", 200 Johnson on 20' proline cuddy cabin '76. any suggesions greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Soce<br />Only way I know is to look in the service manual. Good idea to get one as will save you time and money in the long run.<br /><br />Is the motor a 1976 model also. Post the model number and you may find some with a list of specs.

A a reference, the OMC manual for 1983 models lists the WOT RPM's for the 200 and 235 HP motors as 4750 - 5750 rpm.
