max rpm's

I have a pair of 1989 130 hp Yamahas. wot rpm's are 6000. seems a little high to me. what is the recomended range? thanks

Try props that are about 2 or 3 numbers higher in pich, for example, if they are 21, try 23 or 24, max rpm for your outboard should be around 5500, but check your manual first, I have never owned any yammys. But if you are happy with the performance with your boat running it around 5500, it may not be worth the price of 2 new props, thats going to set you back quite a few hundred dollars for just a few more mph, the question is, is that worth it to you?<br />Happy boating!

Yamaha recommends proping the 130's as close to 6k as possible. With proper care they will run forever.
