max speed on a 9.9

on a 16ft riveted boat v bow, I hit 20.1 mph today. figure me plus feul and gear is 400 lbs. boat weighs 300 lbs. water was choppy but not bad. the prop is a 9 pitch. does this sound right or has my 9.9 been tuned to a 15? its a 1985 Mariner made by Tohatsu. All numbers match a 9.9.

I had a 14 ft starcraft alum that would do 22 mph but mt 9.9 was boosted to a 15 hp. Sounds like yours has been also. Look into the carb if you can, the 9.9 has a small venturi and the 15 conversion has a much larger venturi.
