I recieved an e-mail that has been floating around and it said
on May 15th everyone should not buy gas on that day. Hopefully with
enough people doing this we can bring the price of gas down by
taking the money of the pockets gas companies.

I'm not seeing how that is going to cost them any thing unless you drive less, or not at all on the 15th. The secret is to pay them less money not just pay them on another day. Just my twisted way of thinking. Chief Chief

Cut back on gas for a month, like happened after9-11, and it will make a big difference.

Cut back on gas for a day and you have done nothing.

I wouldn't mind people doing that...won't have to wait in line that day!

I always wondered if you could affect gas prices by singling out one company, say Exxon/Mobil (for leaving such a mess in AK if for no other reason), and bought no gas from them. If done on a large scale, could you drive their price down by refusing to buy gas above a certain price? Would the others follow to compete?

This has been tried many times back in the 70's, and it never had an effect.

Re: May 15th 2007

The demand is always greater during this time of year. Most of the non-boating community doesn't connect that in the north when the ice is gone, weather is warm that the boats come out. Of course, us boaters know that boats just love gas.

A lot of the blame needs to be on the EPA for having different grades of fuel for the seasons. IMHO it is a bunch of bull. Refiners don't want to build new facilities due to the large restrictions that are put on them from the EPA. Clean air or cheap fuel? What is it going to be?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,higher prices of course!

When the price is up, I just get just enough to get me though that day. If I need more, I just buy a little more. I only top off my tank when the price is so called down.

If the big trucks stop rolling like they did in the 70's,,,,,,,,,,be prepared, cause things will be hard to find,,,,,,,,,,especially fuel and food.
