Memorial weekend I tried to start my boat and no go, starter just spun. Went to pull the starter and there was only one bolt in it and it was loose. The other was in the bilge broken off at the bottom of the threads. Make a longggg story short, I drove out 100 miles to get a new one. The new one had an 11 spline gear instead of the 9 spline gear like my old one had. The new starters for the V8 Mercs have new and improved 11` spline starters, this is correct. Of coarse the new bolt's threads weren't deap enough down the shaft of the bolt. Had to use the one good old bolt and put 4 lock washers on one of the new bolts to snug it up but got her running.

The only luck I had that weekend was my 35 merc that I rebuild this winter actually started and ran fine so we had the party barge Sunday and Monday.

Just in case one of you guys run into this, I thought I'd post this.
